The lyrics:
SUNFLOWERS
Dark shadows’ spreading from the north
The sky’s turning gray
Now total madness’ coming forth
So meaningless in every way
The flower of hope
It’s on a mission
The flower of faith
This flower’s got power
Collaboration is the key
A field of yellow
Strong together – wait and see
The guide to freedom
We must rely on you again
Let’s stand together
Billions of sunflowers got power
The sun – the light – the lives
The sun gives
The earth cries
The flower blossoms
Hope in our eyes
Like a healing giant wave
Let’s make it right
Billions of sunflowers in one
Into the light
Like a healing giant wave
Let’s make it right
Billions of sunflowers in one
Into the light

WOOZOOM releases Kvakkolamp – their second album

The Norwegian band WOOZOOM has released their second album, “Kvakkolamp”, with ten new songs.
The album “Kvakkolamp” is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube Music and Facebook & Instagram.
WOOZOOM is the Norwegian duo Harald Bach-Gansmo (keyboards) and John Arne Paulsen (bass/acoustic and electric guitar/vocals).
“Kvakkolamp”:
▪ Input 4:01
▪ Moss 4:46
▪ Branches 4:07
▪ Space Robot 4:37
▪ Mirrors 5:58
▪ No Moose 5:48
▪ Mayfly 3:37
▪ Squirrel 4:08
▪ Ghosts 4:38
▪ October 4:14
All the songs are composed and performed by Harald Bach-Gansmo and John Arne Paulsen.
The music is based on Harald’s keyboards and John’s guitars. The drums have been put in place based on tailor-made drum tracks recorded by skilled drummers.
During the pandemic
The songs were recorded in the period from October 2020 until March 2022. Then the corona was ravaging, which meant that a lot of time was spent at home. The duo also play in a cover band that had several gigs going on when the corona put an end to that as well.
– We also had time to keep up with songwriting and recording in each of our home studios. We recorded the tracks separately and the files were shared between us on the Internet. The entire album was actually made without us ever sitting in the same room, Harald says.
The duo themselves have been responsible for the entire process up to the finished product. Both musicians describe it as so much fun that they will continue to make music.
– I would describe it as a creative and rewarding process, and we are satisfied with the ten songs on this new album, John Arne says.
In any case, the pandemic was the springboard for the Norwegian duo to make “Kvakkolamp”, WOOZOOM’s second album.
Fusion of genres
– We have a dream; that the music will be enjoyed by many. It is not an easy task to place our music in one genre only. It’s a fusion of pop, rock and jazz. It probably also penses into the progressive, John Arne says.
WOOZOOM was established in 2000. Four years later the band released their first album, “Hipdone”. 16 years later, in 2020, they started recording more music. WOOZOOM has always been about composing and recording music in an alternative rock/pop/jazz genre. In the making of “Kvakkolamp” the duo has drawn inspiration from nature, wildlife and even outer space.
Some important sources of musical inspiration are Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Pink Floyd, Saga, Röyksopp, Mezzoforte, Steven Wilson and Riverside.
WOOZOOM releases “Kvakkolamp” as an independent artist, in collaboration with Record Union.
Kvakkolamp contains eight instrumental songs and two with vocals.
Lyrics:
Space Robot (text: John Arne Paulsen)
I’m leaving my home at Neptune.
Then I round the planet Uranus.
Through the rings and Saturn is next, the horizon is strangely flexed.
Then there is this lovely passage past Jupiter – my target is here.
The silence is striking – this is definitely in my liking.
A short trip on the surface of Mars, glancing up to the stars,
before I plunge down to Earth and Milwaukee, where my loved one has been waiting for me.
The super batteries are charged and we set the course back home.
Happy and full of robot joy of life,
there’s – our – dome.
Mayfly (text: John Arne Paulsen)
What’s the meaning of this life
Lying here
At the bottom of this lake
Looking up
Up to the surface
One day
When the time is right
I’m going up there
Up there
(Chorus: Up there – up there)
Mayfly
One day
Will die
In one day
What’s the purpose of my life
Lying here
At the bottom of this lake
Looking up
Up to the surface
One day
When the time is right
I’m going up there
Up there
